MOUNT KENYA CLIMBING

6 DAYS; SIRIMON - CHOGORIA

Day 1
Drive 181 km North from Nairobi to Mountain Rock Hotel. The Hotel is in the heart of the indigenous Burguret forest on the softly rolling slopes of Mt. Kenya. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 2
After breakfast at 8.30 a.m., transfer to Sirimon park gate (2600m) where the mountain crew will be waiting. After brief introductions, the climb starts. A 3 hours walk with lunch on the way takes you to Old Moses Camp (3300m) where the night will be spent.
Day 3
You continue hiking to Shipton's Camp (4200m). Lunch will be taken on the way. The walk takes about 6 hours. Overnight will be at Shipton's Camp.

Day 4
Your climb continues surrounding Nellion and Batian via Hansberg Tarn and Nanyuki Tarn to two Tarn Hut. Two screeds up to (4600m) will have to be passed. Lunch will be at the two Tarn Hut after which the hike continues down to Mackinder's camp at (4300m). overnight will be at the Mackinder's camp.

Day 5
After an early morning breakfat at 4.00 a.m., the trek leads via a steep screed to the Austrian Hut at 4790m. here there will be a short break with tea and biscuits before the final ascend to point Lenana (4985m) via Lewis Glacier. You descend through the Northern side via Simba Cole to the Mintos Hut (4200m) for lunch and continue down via the Chogoria Route passing the Gorge Valley and Lake Michaelson to the carport. Overnight in the tents (3300m).

Day 6
Mt. Kenya
After breakfast, you descend to the Meru, Mt. Kenya Bandas at 3000, where vehicles will be waiting to take you to Chogoria and then to your hotel in Nairobi.
Note: During bad weather conditions, climbers may have some distance to walk towards Chogoria and then to your hotel in Nairobi.

4 DAYS MOUNT KENYA CLIMB -NARO-MORU | SIRIMON

Day 1
Drive from Nairobi through the Kikuyu land to Naro Moru park gate. A drive further 10 km inside the park takes you to Met Station where you will have your dinner and an overnight.

Day 2
After breakfast, you head uphill on the track to pass the radio mast on your right after about half an hour. After another 30 minutes you will reach the end of the forest belt and enter the moorland. After 5-6 hours from Met Station, you finally arrive at the Mackinder's camp which is at 4300m in the Teleki Valley. Dinner and overnight in the camp.

Day 3
After an early morning breakfast at 4.00 a.m., the trek leads through steep screed to the Austrian Hut at 4790m. here there will be a short break before the final ascend to point Lenana (4985m) via Lewis Galacier. You descend through the Northern side via Simba Cole to Shipton (4200m). Dinner and overnight will be at the Judmeier's Camp which is about 3 hours descend from Shipton.

Day 4
After breakfast you finally descend to the park's gate - Sirimon. It takes about 2-3 hours and after saying bye to the crew, the vehicles await you for a transfer to Nairobi.
